SO YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE A CARDIAC CATH?

heartscenesfaqspeakdiet
I'm Dr. Michael Harkins. Although you've undergone preliminary testing, there are still some questions remaining about your heart. Accordingly, you and your doctor are considering a heart catheterization. This is a relatively brief diagnostic test performed under local anesthesia, with a small tube inserted in the arm or groin. Information gained from this test will enable you and your doctor to make the correct decision about your care.

As with any invasive study there is a small risk of complication. Prior to the procedure you should discuss the reason for the test, the manner in which the test will be performed, as well as any potential complications, with your own cardiologist.
